Back when our moms had babies (us!), a stroller was an enormous purchase. It went everywhere (stores, libraries, walks in the park), sometimes with more than one child in it. The stroller — usually a large pram — was was a symbol of the status of the woman and of her family.
Not much has changed since then when you think about it…actually, not much has changed since our mom’s mom had her first carriage back in the 1940s. The size, shape and designs may have changed, but the size of the purchase and the necessity of a stroller (or pram) remains the same.
Macklem’s has been a family run business since 1945. Bill and Debbie Ranger (Bill is the original owners’ grandson) have an excellent reputation for stroller selection, service and repair. Actually, Macklem’s is the only shop in the country that does full refurbishment on heirloom baby prams (don’t we wish we had our grandmother’s carriage!). We know that we can purchase a baby stroller from Macklem’s with peace of mind, knowing that our purchase will be serviced — if the need arises — at their convenient location.
Macklem’s specializes in quality stroller brands including Peg Perego, Silver Cross, UPPAbaby and Maclaren. They also sell quality baby furniture and other baby necessities including car seats, high chairs, safety products, bath products, feeding items and toys (it really is a one-stop-shop for expectant parents).
Since not much has changed in terms of wanting quality and perfection why would our favourite baby carriage retailer be any different than our mom’s…or our grandmother’s for that matter?
