How to Bring a Little Calm to Our Littles

Our kids are hardly calm and serene, but with a little help they can be both...and so can we.

Our wee ones are hardly serene…in fact we would describe them as downright unzipped most of the time. We just don’t know how to change that.

We know that for us, yoga is an excellent form of exercise and meditation. When we practice it regularly, it brings us peace and serenity, and we are able to deal with the world around us in a much more calm fashion. Why wouldn’t it work in the same way for our littles?

Yoga could make them sit quietly and calmly (amazing). It could teach them to think more clearly and with greater focus (astounding). It could help them to be more active and to learn the importance of a healthy lifestyle (astonishing). All of these things would be awesome.

Jenny Foster Vaya of Prema Yoga has already figured this out (she’s way ahead of us!) and has been offering kids’ and family yoga classes for three years. In-home or in-studio, these classes focus on calming, quieting and building a sense of healthy awareness. Classes full of songs, stories, poses, games and deep breathing are custom designed for children or for the whole family; challenging everyone physically and calming everyone energetically.

Prema Yoga also hosts age-appropriate, custom-designed yoga birthday parties.  A one hour class full of games, stories, songs, deep breathing and physical activity is sure to leave all the wee yogis feeling calm and refreshed. And we love that a yoga birthday party is our chance to do something unique, healthy and positive for our wee one’s next big day.

With Prema Yoga’s help, our littles have gone from unzipped to unruffled…just the way we like them.
