We know every child is special. But what does it mean to have a child with “special needs”?
Having a kidlet who might need extra help because of a medical, emotional, or learning difficulty is a stressful position for any parent to be in. These wee ones have special needs because they might need medicine, therapy, or extra help with everyday tasks and patience in being able to understand their own lives. But it doesn’t mean they don’t have the same desires as other kids, including the desire to go to summer camp.
We know having a child with special needs is difficult. They’re different from their peers, their recreational choices are sometimes limited…and you just want them to feel normal. Well. Camp Kirk is here to change all of that.
Camp Kirk is a residential overnight camp for children with learning disabilities, attention deficit disorders, autism spectrum disorders and/or incontinence or enuresis(bed wetting) difficulties. They help kids with their independence in a safe setting. They allow kids to try new things and to enjoy all the things at which they excel.
Camp Kirk ensures that every single child is able to go to camp, and for that we think they’re pretty special.
