If Your Kid Loves Art, This Competition is for Them

Arts and Crafts

If your kids can’t get enough crayons, markers, and paints, have we got the perfect activity for you!

The Canadian Children’s Art Foundation is giving kids the chance to have their artwork published through the first annual National Painting Competition. This year’s theme is “Fantasy World”, and CCAF is asking kids to express their vision of what a fantasy world may look like.

The artwork will be juried by a distinguished panel of judges based on artistic talent, creativity, and originality. This year’s judges include Michael Martchenko—the highly acclaimed artist who has become the “go-to” illustrator for Robert Munsch’s children’s books, Lillian Michiko Blakey—a professional artist with paintings in the collections of the Government of Ontario, and the Nikkei National Museum, and Michael Solomon—the Art Director at Groundwood Books.

The entries will be evaluated in three age groups:

  • 4 to 8 years old
  • 9 to 12 years old
  • 13 to 17 years old

The CCAF will select the top three participants in every age group, and all final art pieces selected will be published in CCAF’s book entitled Fantasy World.

Here are the nitty-gritty details of the competition.
