Summer Camps In Calgary

Camps

Though the weather these days might be near frightful, our thoughts are turning to summer (yes, summer!)…and to summer camps (yes, summer camps!) for our kidlets. We like to send our kids to camp every summer as a part of developing their independence (and to recover our own). They love it for the activities, the experiences and the enjoyment; we love it for the quiet house we have while they’re gone, and of course the amazing experiences they have and skills they develop.

If you’re looking for camps this summer, we have the inside scoop on where to get information. If you have never sent your child to camp, here’s a great article on five things to know about summer day camps. For those interested in overnight camps, here is an informative article on preparing your child for overnight camp.

Butterfield Acres
20 years of Amazing interactions with wonderful fuzzy friendly farm animals of all kinds. Week-long Active outdoor learning and fun with the critters for 3-14 yr olds. Enthusiastic leaders with 1st aid; 6:1 ratio

Pioneer Camp
A Christian camp that is  all about leadership development. All campers will spend one to four days on a out-tripping, depending on the camp they attend. Whether it be river canoeing, day hiking, backpacking, or horseback riding, each trek is unique and builds skills and character. For those interested, riding is available in two hour blocks. Campers at their two-week camps who choose a riding out-trip spend a large part of each day riding on their trek.

Calgary Arts
This camp is an arts extravaganza for students aged 4 to 10 and has full- and half-day options. Students are grouped with other students of similar age and experience. Classes are custom designed by five of Calgary’s top art educators, to provide an introduction to music, drama, movement and art and high quality instruction is given by professional teachers. The daily program will include thirty-five minutes each of keyboard, rhythm and singing instruction, acting and focus games, movement and different dance forms, varied art techniques and there is a snack break.

BaSE (Mountain Biking Camp)
BaSE takes your child outside of the city to new terrain and new challenges that allows them to have new and exciting adventures. They offers an amazing experience and guarantee a maximum ratio of 1 coach per 6 students. This ensures that everyone gets the attention they need to develop their biking skills.

If you’re looking for more traditional camps, try Camp Adventure, YMCA Camps of Calgary, Girl Guides Camps or the City of Calgary Day Camps.

If a special-interest camp is something your child might like, you might want to check out SportBall, Mad Science, Butterfield Acres, Pedalheads, or camps at the Calgary Zoo.

We also have many more listings in our Camps section as well as in our Parent-Tot & Drop-Off Programs, Party Resources, School and Daycare Programs, Education and Sports sections.
