We know our kids are mini-geniuses, but sometimes we think that no one else sees the virtuoso locked within the candy-coated, chap-lipped, snoring, jumping, crazed child that we adore so much. How can we bring out the genius…?
We’ve all heard the reasons why piano lessons are great for our kids; that it exercises parts of the brain useful in mathematics, spatial intelligence and other intellectual pursuits. Our monsters could certainly use that sort of exercise and stimulation.
When we heard about piano lessons and music instruction being provided by highly-qualified teachers, we got pretty excited. North Toronto Institute of Music educates students to become musically literate, and to obtain the necessary discipline to reach their desired level of competence (discipline? For our kids? Awesome!). The joy of learning is reinforced in their studios, where the teachers provide individualized lessons in a private lesson format.
We will definitely be going to be checking out the North Toronto Institute of Music on Family Day, when they are having an open house from 2-5pm.
