School’s out for the summer, and it’s time to make the most of it! July brings lots of fun in the sun events to keep your kids occupied, from fishing tournaments to lively festivals. And don’t forget to check our list of fun (mostly free) things to do with kids on Canada Day to satisfy your and your children’s needs for big things that go BOOM. 

While attending all these great events, don’t forget to register your kids in a cool day camp to give them a boost in confidence.

On this month in Toronto for kids:

FringeKids Festival

Geared towards children between 3 and 12, the FringeKids Festival has over 60 theatric performances to choose from. After the show, play in the FringeKids Club with daily workshops, play stations, bouncy castles, and more! July 1–12

KidsFest at Centreville

FREE Games, activities, bouncing castles, clowns, music, and much more will be available at KidsFest at Centreville. Participation in the activities are free with admission to the Centreville Amusement Park. Don’t miss the live animal visits from Far Enough Farm; fun for the whole family! July 3–5

Family Fishing Week

Ontario residents can enjoy the fun of fishing without a license during the annual Ontario Family Fishing Week. There are dozens of participating locations throughout the province, including many within driving distance of Toronto, so don’t miss out!  July 4–12

Scotiabank Caribbean Festival

Check out one of the many free events of the Scotiabank Caribbean Festival happening at several Toronto locations. Most notably, the Grande Parade is a sight to behold, with masqueraders in colourful striking costumes and steel pan bands winding their way from Exhibition Place along a 3.5 kilometre stretch on Lakeshore Boulevard. July 7–August 9

Pan Am Games and Panamania

In between cheering on your favourite athletes competing in the Pam Am Games, take a look at Panamania, an arts and culture festival with more than 250 unique performances and exhibitions. Featured are 40 national and international performances and exhibitions, including 28 commissioned world premieres at more than 20 locations across Toronto. July 10–26

Beaches Jazz Festival

FREE This massive celebration of music with over 10 stages, the Beaches Jazz Festival is a must-see this month. Features include a fantastic musical roster, a line-up of food trucks, StreetFest, Taste of Jazz, Beaches Tune Up Jazz Run, and The Farmers Market Jazz Series. July 10–26

Slide the City

FREE Summer time brings a need to cool off, and what better way than with 1000 feet of slick vinyl slip-and-slide during Slide the City. This water party event will have live music, food, drinks, water, and the biggest slip-and-slide ever to hit asphalt. Make sure to bring your water buckets, floaties, and water guns. July 18–19

A Day Out with Thomas

Spend a Day Out with Thomas with your little aspiring engineer at the Elgin County Railway Museum. This event offers the opportunity to take a ride with the classic storybook engine, meet Sir Topham Hatt, and participate in a ton of fun Thomas-related activities! Your ticket includes admission to the museum. July 18–26
