Spring is finally here, and with it comes a ton of exciting events for kids of all ages. Don’t miss the TIFF Kids International Film festival this month and the largest Easter egg hunt in Canada. And start the season right with one or more charity events that are also lots of fun—win, win!

Whimsical Wonderland

This is a magical, interactive event with a petting zoo, crafts, a magician, and much more! There will also be a silent auction with grand prizes, which supports the charity Kids Help Phone.

TIFF Kids Presents: DigiPlaySpace

In this interactive playground, kids have the chance to play with a robotic arm, learn to code with physical blocks, and paint with light. It’s an imaginative learning experience for all visitors.

Stories, Rhymes and Songs…Oh My!

As part of the Toronto Storytelling Festival, there will be performances by the talented Rita Cox, Carol Ashton, and Sally Jaeger. The kids will be entertained with delightful songs, engaging stories, and silly rhymes. Children will also have a chance to make their own bookmarks, read in the comfy reading nook, and play in the sock puppet theatre. For ages 3–12.

Sugar Bush Trek at White Meadows Farms

Come and relive the experience of Maple Syrup’s discovery. Taste the deliciously sweet syrup as it oozes onto the snow and is swirled up on a stick (called Taffy-on-Snow). Hop on the Sugar Shuttle, a tractor-pulled wagon, as you explore the sugar bush. And while you’re there, why not give wood cutting a try.

The Baby Show

Visit Toronto’s premium pregnancy and early parenting show, where you can experience a crash course in parenting, learning what to do as well as what products and services will make your life easier. There are over 150 exhibitors offering products, information, training, and some much needed pampering for expecting and new parents.

Sleepovers at the Science Centre

This is a great family indoor camping event. Get ready for a night of technology and tinkering. Explore the activity stations and the new exhibition Biomechanics: The Machine Inside, recharge at The Energy Show, and get your groove back on the dance floor.

Kids Auti Play—Play Date for Kids with Autism

Kids will get the chance to play in an awesome indoor playground, while parents will have an opportunity to speak with the trained professionals about program opportunities, social play groups, and family needs. Preregistration is required. Kids at any age with autism are welcome.

Pretty in Paint Friday Nights at Petite and Posh

Children are guided through making their own display ready canvas. The theme for April is Blindfold Painting canvas surprises. Dinner is included with pizza, veggies, and drinks.

April Fools with WonderPhil the Magic Guy

Solar Stage presents WonderPhil the Magic Guy! After last year’s sold out performance, the magician is back with a new show. In this April Fools special, it seems like some of WonderPhil’s tricks are out to fool him and he’ll need your help to make the magic happen right before your eyes.

RECESS

Imagine being a child again, but this time with the children in your life by your side. RECESS is an exciting mini-festival that the whole family gets to participate in, featuring entertainment, food, celebrities, and games from the 70s to the 2000s. All the proceeds support families with seriously ill children at Ronald McDonald House Charities Toronto.

Easter EGGstravaganza at Centreville

Meet the Easter Bunny at the EGGstravaganza, host of Canada’s largest egg hunt on Centre Island. Kids can hunt for eggs and exchange them for prizes, decorate Easter baskets, and visit the Centreville kiddie amusement park—where select rides will be open—and Far Enough Farms, where they can pet baby animals.

TIFF Kids International Film Festival

TIFF’s second biggest film festival celebrates children’s cinema from all around the world. Young film lovers will have a blast attending a Q&A with the directors and actors, watching the films, and submitting their own original films through TIFF’s Jump Cuts Young Filmmakers Showcase. Films for ages 3–13.

Munschtime!

Experience the beloved stories of Robert Munsch come to life on the stage! The performance includes favourites such as Love You Forever, Murmel Murmel Murmel, Pigs, A Promise is a Promise, and Too Much Stuff! Two American Sign Language (ASL) Shadow Interpreted Performances are offered during this run, as well as two Relaxed performances, ideal for younger audiences or those who would benefit from a relaxed environment, including people with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Ages 4–8.
