Andrew King Studio
Local artist Andrew King has released a line of T-shirts based on iconic signs from around Ottawa. Our personal favourite is the Towers logo T, but anyone who has lived in Ottawa will recognize most of them — including the Civic Pharmacy and The Cathay, a Chinese restaurant that used to be at Albert & Bank.

Calgary
Hit the Mall(s)
So many favourite stores, so little time. Calgary really is a mall-shoppers mecca. If you want a bunch of great stores all in one place (and a warm shopping trip), head to Chinook Centre, CrossIron Mills (an outlet mall), Market Mall (situated away from the bustling downtown core, it can be less crowded during the holiday rush than its rivals) or Southcentre Mall, where when your shopping companion/driver starts to fade, he can be lovingly deposited in the Sports Zone – an area devoted to showing all-day action on two 65” HD TVs furnished with plush leather seats.
Art Central
Art Central is a feast for the eyes and soul with more than 50 artist studios, galleries, clothing and jewellery boutiques and cafes. It’s a relaxing and cultured way to enjoy the downtown scene while you find the rare gift you’ve been searching for.

Go in either direction and you will have loads of shops chock full of unique options like delicious teas, and funky accessories. You’ll also find boutiques stocked with stylish fashions for adults and kids alike. No matter which road you explore first, you’ll love the quaint, village feel of this area.
Livingstone & Cavell Extraordinary Toys
In this toy haven, even you might start to drool a wee bit. The store is brimming with the best of the old (think little red wagons) as well as vintage-inspired toys with a new twist. For the young and young-at-heart on your shopping list, there are novelty moustaches and classic gags. This is a workshop even Santa could learn from.
