Our New Year’s Resolutions

Holidays

Asking people about their resolutions can be sticky business. Some people don’t want to share them (maybe for fear they won’t follow through?). Of course we love to share, so we’re happy to put our resolutions out there for everyone to see. By the way, please feel free to wag your finger at any one of us if you catch us not following through on them this year!

RESOLUTION: ORGANIZATION
“My goal this year is to stay organized. Last year was about purging (in preparation for the kitchen renovation and with our decision to stay in our current house) and this year it’s about keeping things organized.  No more piles of stuff everywhere (hopefully) and less ‘stuff’ all over. I’m excluding toys from this goal because frankly, I have young children and that would be a silly plan!
— Rebecca Stanisic, Ottawa Freelancer
We love all the separate pieces of the “daily system” at potterybarn.com. It doesn’t hurt that it’s also on sale right now!
RESOLUTION: INDULGENCE
“It seems like the very civilized, adult version of one of my best loved stories, Eloise, who lived at the Plaza Hotel in New York: I’d like to indulge in the Trump Tower’s Shaken Not Stirred package.”
— Connie Hill, Help! Sales StaffThe over-the-top $17,007 Shaken Not Stirred package brings the iconic spy’s culture to life with the ultimate Bond-lover’s package that is lavish enough for 007 himself.

RESOLUTION: COMMUNICATION
“I am going to try to call my brothers more often – even if just for 10 min – to stay in better touch. Weekly dinner with my hubby – instead of usual: eat what’s in the fridge, work or watch tv. Talk and plan more!”
— Deborah Beatty, PublisherThe new Iphone 5 is pretty slick…having one might just help Deb keep in touch with her brothers better…no?

RESOLUTION: PLAY-TIME
“I want to indulge my inner-child (and my actual children!) and play more often.
— Tracie Wagman, Publisher
We think Tracie should indulge in a new form of yoga; aerial yoga — it sure looks like fun, doesn’t it?

RESOLUTION: SELF-CARE
“I would like to exercise more, eat better, get outside more and drink more water. Everything needs an overhaul…isn’t that what a new year is for? Oh, and I’d like to resolve that I will be someplace warm on new year’s eve, 2013.”
— Jennifer Hamilton, Editor-in-Chief
Perhaps Jennifer would like to head to an all-inclusive resort…? It would likely take care of all of her resolutions at the same time.
RESOLUTION: EDUCATION
“This year I would love to go back to university and start working towards my MBA.”
— Lindsay Johnson, Sales StaffIf Lindsay is going back to school she might need a new agenda, like this pretty pink and silver one from chapters.indigo.ca to keep track of all her coming’s and going’s (the girl has a huge amount going on already!).
RESOLUTION: EVERYTHING
“My resolutions for 2013 are as follows: eat at least one glass of freshly squeeze juice a day; do not complain about anything; accept that everything is for your great good; work out 15-30 minutes a day; learn a new language and take courses to expand my knowledge and join social clubs…””
— Michael Segree, Assistant EditorIt sounds as though Michael is doing some major overhaul…here’s a great juicer that might help him out with one of his resolutions this year.

Do you have any resolutions you want to share? If you do we’ll try to help you out all year long to keep them going. We promise!
