Though the weather these days might be near frightful, our thoughts are turning to summer (yes, summer!)…and to summer camps (yes, summer camps!) for our kidlets. We like to send our kids to camp every summer as a part of developing their independence (and to recover our own). They love it for the activities, the experiences and the enjoyment; we love it for the quiet house we have while they’re gone, and of course the amazing experiences they have and skills they develop.

Capital Wave
Do your wee ones want to try water polo this summer? Ottawa’s Capital Wave Water Polo Club offers programs for fun and fitness for all boys and girls aged 6 and up. In the Initiation and Development programs, athletes learn the rules of the game and basic skills such as swimming strokes and ball handling. They also improve their swimming skills and participate in local scrimmages. Check out the summer program and catch the WAVE!

Camp Awakening
This special camp is a registered charity providing an integrated summer camp with outdoor recreation & leadership programs for youth with physical disabilities. Their traditional summer camp programs for boys and girls operates out of two mainstream camps in Ontario – Kilcoo Camp for boys near Minden and Camp Oconto for girls north of Kingston. Campers enjoy wilderness adventures through their canoe-tripping program, and traditional in-camp activities such as swimming, sailing, kayaking, land sports, ropes course, climbing tower, horseback riding, archery and handicrafts.
