The AGO is preparing a feast for the senses this March break with special, interactive family activities related to food and family. Activities are planned every day from Saturday, March 9 through Sunday, March 17.
The main event for families is Secret Ingredient, an art-making smorgasbord all about food: kids can make sculptures of their favourite foods (real or imaginary!) and combine them with family recipes and photographs to contribute to an installation in the AGO’s Walker Court and online.
Kids can also make and decorate paper airplanes and flying fish spinners to launch from the Gallery School balcony, and/or build and decorate paper boats and take them for a float—an activity inspired by the AGO’s current special exhibition, Impressionism in the Age of Industry: Monet, Pissarro, and More.
There will also be a table-size food mural to colour, a train station and AGO racetrack to play with, collage-making and more in the Dr. Mariano Elia Hands-On Centre, and family gallery tours.
