Brunch or dinner at your favourite restaurant is always a terrific option for celebrating Mother’s Day, or if the weather’s nice, a simple picnic at a local park can be lovely. But if you’re looking for some more creative ideas on how to celebrate mom’s special day, check out our list of five fun things to do on Mother’s Day (May 10) in Toronto this year.
1. Mother’s Day at the Toronto Zoo
The Toronto Zoo is always an exciting place to visit with the family at any time of year, but on on Mother’s Day, the zoo is taking it up a notch by setting up a special activity zone for kids so mom can relax a little while the kids create a special present for her.
2. Mother’s Day Cruise
For moms who love the water, what better way to celebrate your special day than with a scenic boat cruise and brunch on Lake Ontario with your family? Mariposa Cruises is offering a special Mother’s Day Brunch Cruise this year, from 11:30 to 2:30 on Mother’s Day ($48.95 for adults and children over 12; $24.95 for children aged 4 to 12; and free for kids 3 and under).
3. Casa Loma
Toronto’s gorgeous gothic revival style castle, Casa Loma, is hosting a spectacular Mother’s Day brunch buffet ($55 per person, $35 for children 13 and under). Reservations are required. After brunch, spend the afternoon touring the castle’s lovely grounds and stunning gardens.
4. Black Creek Pioneer Village
For history-loving moms, Black Creek Pioneer Village is a perfect option for Mother’s Day. In addition to all the usual Victorian activities to enjoy on the village grounds, they are also offering a Mother’s Day Tea & Brunch, with seatings at 10 am and 1 pm ($44.95 plus tax for ages 13 and up if you are not a member; $40.95 plus tax for members; $26.95 plus tax for kids ages 5 to 12; and free for ages four and under.)
5. The Old Mill
The Old Mill really knows how to do it up for Mother’s Day—their legendary Mother’s Day brunch and Mother’s Day dinner buffet are sure to make any mom happy (and full!) on her special day. (Brunch buffet: $47.95 for adults, $24.95 for children. Dinner buffet: $49.95 for adults and $24.95 for children. Kids aged 5 and under are free at both.) And after mom has gobbled up all that delicious food, if she has the opportunity to slip away from the kids for a while, she can always slide over to the Old Mill’s luxurious spa to indulge in a relaxing massage or facial. Mother’s Day heaven!
