Camp Kawartha

A leader in outdoor environmental education, Camp Kawartha has summer overnight camps, day camps, and two outdoor education centres for school trips and facility rentals.

All summer camps take place at the location on Clear Lake in Douro-Dummer. Day camps are available from age 4 and overnight camps from age 7. Activities include canoeing and kayaking, sailing, windsurfing, arts and crafts, climbing, and survival skills. Kids are also exposed to the idea of environmental stewardship through programming and on-site infrastructure including wind turbines, solar ovens and cookers, and straw bale buildings. A winter day camp is also offered in Peterborough for ages 6–12 in early January and during March break.

Educational field trips for kids can take place at the Outdoor Education Centre in Douro-Dummer (near Lakefield) or the Camp Kawartha Environment Centre in Peterborough. Overnight field trips are available.
