York Region March Break Camps 2020

Camps for Kids

Kids in the York region have some awesome camp options this March break: painting and drawing camps, chemistry and engineering camp, Spanish-language camp, cooking camp, and more.

York Region March break camprs include camps in Aurora, East Gwillimbury, Georgina, King, Markham, Newmarket, Richmond Hill, Stouffville, Thornhill, and Vaughan.

In addition to the camps here, each town and city’s recreation department holds school-break camps. Links are included below.

Vaughan

Adventure Valley

Adventure Valley hosts a number of activities for day campers that include art, cooking, music, dance, sports, outdoor fun, and special guests.

The Chef Upstairs

VAUGHAN

If your child loves to cook, check out this amazing camp for kids. They’ll learn cooking techniques while preparing breakfast, lunch, and dinner from a different culture each day: beef bourguignon, fajitas, cannoli… A delicious way to spend a week! There’s also a March 9–13 camp.

Ice Dreams Skating Academy

THORNHILL

Kids get one- to two hours of on-ice instruction at half-day and full-day ice skating camps during March break. Camps also include basketball, dodge ball, and other off-ice activities.

Italo Bambini

VAUGHAN

Spoken Italian skills are the focus at this Italian language program for kids, and the theme for March break is cooking! Kids will make gnocchi, tagliatelle, pizza and learn some Italian along the way. Two age groups: 4-6 and 7–12.

McMichael Gallery ArtVenture Camps

VAUGHAN

At week-long March break camps at the McMichael, kids visit current exhibitions, hike the grounds, and make paintings, drawings, prints and more in the gallery’s studio.

The Spanish Schoolhouse

THORNHILL

Kids take part in cultural activities, music, dance, drama, art and crafts, cooking, outdoor play, and more, in an immersive Spanish language environment. No previous Spanish is required. Half-day available.

Great Big Theatre Company

RICHMOND HILL

Varied theatre camp programs incorporate drama, improv, movement, singing, theatre games, work with sets and costumes, and an end-of-week public performance. Playtime with outdoor activities and sports are incorporated as well.

Hatch Coding

RICHMOND HILL

Kids get hands-on experience with coding and tackling “mini-missions” to solve real-world problems on a local or international level. Coding and Leadership Camp is a fun and challenging camp where kids acquire skills in technical programming, team-building, and public speaking. March 9–13 and 16–20.

Mad Science

RICHMOND HILL

Kids learn all about simple machines during a week filled with hands-on building activities like constructing bridges and a 4-foot-high geodesic dome and making bath fizzies in the chemistry lab. Each day has a theme: Jr. Engineers, Crazy Chemistry, and more.

RICHMOND HILL

More than just a sports camp, this March break camp allows kids to mix and match active programs like soccer, basketball, dance, and martial arts with Lego ArchiTECH and Lego Robotics. Or, they can opt for the multi-activity Adventure Camp that includes a bit of everything.

RICHMOND HILL

The TRCA’s nature-themed March break camps take place at conservation areas throughout the GTA. At March Break Nature Camp in Richmond Hill, kids play games in the forest and learn to track animals, build a fire, make a shelter, and more.

Art One Academy Markham

MARKHAM

Young artists will learn about different art techniques and create delightful masterpieces inspired by nature. Campers will also participate in yoga and creative movement programs. Half-day and full-day options available. Two groups: ages 4–7 and 8-12.

MARKHAM

Learn badminton from experienced coaches (and professional players) at this March break camp, open to beginner through intermediate players. Most campers have little to no badminton experience.

Flato Markham Theatre

MARKHAM

Choose from theatre camps focusing on acting, triple-threat skills—acting, dancing, and singing—or all aspects of production, behind the curtain and in front. Each camp includes an end-of-week performance or fully staged show.

Air Riderz

NEWMARKET

Jump, jump, and jump some more during a week of trampoline sports at Air Riderz trampoline park. Play trampoline dodge ball, climbing, and free jump. There will also be indoor/outdoor games and arts and crafts. Friday pizza lunch.

AURORA • NEWMARKET

Opt for the Crayola: World of Design camp (Grades 1–6) in Aurora, where kids use art and design thinking to solve real-world problems or Eureka! camp (SK–Grade 5) in Newmarket, where kids use their imagination to overcome challenges by building catapults, forts, circuits, and more.
