We always knew we weren’t the only ones wanting to see girls and women more empowered.
The G(irls)20 Summit wants this too, and is actually doing something about it. Something amazing, really. We’ve all heard of the G20 Summit: countries and big banks, talking about money. But there’s a heck of a lot more to economics than big banks. What about the people who live in those countries?
The G(irls)20 Summit gets together in advance of the G20 Leaders meeting every year and brings one girl, aged 18-20 from each G20 country and one girl from the European Union and the African Union. The Summit looks at the G20 agenda thru the eyes of girls and women from all over the world. The delegates participate in panels and workshops, discussing ways to promote tangible, scalable solutions toward financial prosperity and the economic and political empowerment of girls and women. The Summit ends with a delegate-led press conference and communiqué that provides a blueprint on how the G20 Leaders can utilize and engage one of the best resources in the world – girls and women.
After the Summit, delegates will be mentored, supported and empowered to live up to their commitments and make social change a reality in their home country. The Summit aims to make a one-time economic investment in the development and initiatives of delegates based on their sound business proposals.
It is well known that girls and women need to be empowered to make decisions and become part of the discussion…we’re just glad to know we’re not the only ones who think so.
