About Mind Over Matter Karate
Mind Over Matter Karate isn’t your typical dojo. While students do practice traditional martial arts will all the associated discipline and mental and physical fitness, the focus is on actual self-defence. Students are trained to maintain a practical mindset and apply their training to reality-based situations.
Beyond just learning to kick and punch, students gain the confidence to use self-defence in any situation, using grappling, throwing, locking, tripping, and a mix of it all.
The practice includes a variety of skills from Shotokan, Wado Ryu, and Shukokai styles in order to prepare students for any situation. Every instructor (including Sensei Neil) was once a student and at Mind Over Matter, every student gets one-on-one personal development and leadership coaching from day one.
Every student is systematically trained to become a teaching assistant at purple belt and an instructor by the time they become a black-belt.
Classes are available on Saturdays from September through June, for children ages 5 and up, as well as teens and adults.
