If everybody had an ocean, across the U.S.A.
Then everybody’d be surfin’, like californ-I-A…
Even though it’s now officially winter in the big city (Santa has been spotted once or twice and brrr! it’s getting cold out there), we’re humming the Beach Boys’ Surfin’ USA as we walk the kidlets to school. Why? Because we just registered them for beach camp…and it starts in December!

The kids are even humming along now, and pulling out their shorts and t-shirts for the occasion. They are totally excited to be able to hang out on the beach this winter; we’re totally excited there’s no six hour flight (or air sickness, Montezuma’s revenge or just plain boredom) involved.
The Lytton Park Tennis Club beach is a mere two minutes from Yorkdale Mall, and it’s pretty darned awesome. The kids will be playing beach sports like soccer, dodgeball and volleyball. There will also be a number of age-appropriate activities happening everyday, to keep all of our beach bums having fun. With an instructor to kid ratio of 3-6 per instructor and a great balance of skill development and exercise in a supportive environment, what more could we ask for?
A pina colada and a shady beach chair for us….we probably won’t get that, but perhaps just a few hours to ourselves is good enough.
