About The Hamilton Aviary
Canada’s oldest public aviary, the Hamilton Aviary provides a sanctuary for birds in need of homing and healing. They provide educational tours, both at the aviary and out in the community at school and events.
Visit their flock of beautiful birds. They are open on weekends from Victoria Day until October, so you can wander the grounds, meet some feathered beauties and even enjoy a family picnic. You can also arrange a private tour outside of normal opening hours.
Their location also serves as a gateway to Cootes Paradise trails for many hikers, naturalists and local bird watching groups. With the support of the City of Hamilton and Royal Botanical Gardens, the Aviary has resided in the RBG’s former Teaching Gardens on a temporary basis since 1996, in Westdale among Cootes Paradise Sanctuary.
