About Club Optimiste francophone de Durham
The Club Optimiste francophone de Durham (COFD) is a non profit organization dedicated to bringing out the best in francophone and francophile youth. It was founded to sponsor a summer camp project for children 6 to 15.
Camp Garnier and Marion offer a wide range of fun activities are organized around weekly themes. Themes include tehcnologocial wonders, spy glass, super Olympics, and Jurassic World. There is at least one counselor for every eight children.
Every Tuesday, an outing or a guest is part of the itinerary. On Thursday, they spend the day at the outdoor swimming pool, such as Cedar Park in Bowmanville or Petticoat Creek in Pickering.
The Golden Rule is “French at all times.” it is important that your child be able to communicate in French. To attend camp, children must have attended at least one full year of French Immersion and be able to understand and express themselves in French.
