So many great theatre companies from around the world have found inventive and fun ways to translate their programs and camps into a virtual format. And we’re excited to share our favourite 12 classes and camps with you.

Act One Theatre Camp
Running online camps during the summer, winter and March Break, kids can spend the day singing, dancing, and acting at Act One Theatre Camp. Most sessions include a final performance, where each camper performs in a song, dance, and acting scene.
Arena Stage
Your kids can write the next hit musical, get ready for their close-up, or get up and dance! Online classes at Arena Stage give kids grades 4 to 8 the chance to try something new or explore a favourite art form more deeply. They also offer camps throughout the year. All prices are in USD.
Art Camp 504
Offering virtual camps throughout the year as well as online after-school programs for kids from 6 to 13 years old, Art Camp 504 has a variety of classes. From a virtual dance class to a virtual theatre class, there is something for everyone.
Arts Express
From cartooning and hip hop dancing to drama and mindful movement, Arts Express has a wide variety of classes to choose from. Offering virtual after-school classes as well as summer camps, kids will build self-confidence and creativity as well as learning teamwork through collaborative learning.
Avenue Road Arts School
With programs for kids from JK to grade 12, Avenue Road Arts School caters to a wide range of ages. Established in 1993 in Toronto, Avenue Road Arts School has been providing instruction to kids in many different subjects including sculpture, acting, painting, architecture, textiles, and even art history. They offer after-school and weekend classes as well as camps.
Bravo Academy for the Performing Arts
Do you have a musical theatre fan in your home? Bravo Academy has virtual mystical theatre classes that are perfect for kids that like to express themselves through music and movement. They also offer virtual summer, winter, and March Break camps.
Great Big Theatre Company
Great Big Theatre Company’s Theatre Arts Program offers performance-oriented theatre and musical theatre programs for students from ages 6 through 14—and thankfully they’ve taken their great program online! With after-school programs, summer and March Break camps planned for 2021, you can get your child set up for an entire year of acting!
McCarter Theatre Centre
With programs for kids of all ages, McCarter Theatre Centre has something for everyone. While this camp is “located” in Princeton, NJ, that’s the beauty of online courses—physical location doesn’t matter! These imaginative courses combine acting games, improvised scene and character making, and creative storytelling.
Stand UP for Student Well Being
At SUSWB, kids get to work on developing their funny bone in a variety of different classes. Stand up, improv, and sketch comedy class are all taught by trained comedians. They offer after-school programs as well as camps throughout the year—all virtually.
Stagecoach
Performing together while being apart is Stagecoach’s mantra. And that is exactly what their after-school, weekend, and camp programs do—kids are guided by teachers through interactive lessons focusing on singing, acting, and dancing. And they’re even putting on virtual showcases so kids can show off their skills!
The Second City
For kids 10 to 18, The Second City offers a variety of virtual after-school and weekend programs including improv, sketch comedy, acting for TV and film. They are also offering a 2021 virtual March Break camp. We love that some of their classes are drop-in, meaning you don’t have to commit to a certain time frame.
Young People’s Theatre
Led by an experienced faculty of professional artist-educators, Young People’s Theatre is offering online classes for JK to Grade 12 on weekends and after-school. Speciality classes include Audition Technique, Online Content Creation, Shakespeare Monologues, Writers’ Bloc, Actor’s Craft and more! They will also be running 2021 March Break and summer online camps.
