Sometimes the smallest act of kindness is all it takes to change someone’s life…and we are all about small acts of kindness. This desire is something we are constantly trying to practice more regularly and at the same time, instill in our children.
Did you know that women are 11 times more likely than men to be a victim of sexual offences and three times more likely to be the victim of criminal harassment? In 2011, more than 173,600 women were victims of a violent crime, a rate of 1,207 female victims for every 100,000 women.
Lots of organizations offer shelter, support and access to community resources for women and their children that need them. In addition to financial contributions, these places require new or used linens, undergarments and beauty products. That’s where one of our favourite beauty supply stores comes to the rescue.
Since 2007, Trade Secrets has collected more than 20,000 gently used hair appliances and donated them to shelters in the GTA and Montreal. In return for our appliance donations, they generously give us 50% off a brand new appliance from Avanti, Rowenta Beauty and GS Professional from Aug. 10 until Sept. 27 (and seriously, who doesn’t love shopping for brand new hair appliances?).
We love their desire to give back and know we can help out this year. It’s time to rummage through our beauty cabinets and messy closets to find any used and functional hair tools — anything from flat irons to hair dryers to rollers to curling rods and take them to our local Trade Secrets location.
