On Family Day, visit Mackenzie House and celebrate Black History Month. Learn about the Black Victorians and their publishers and newspaper journalists. Take home an important piece of journalism history by printing a copy of Mary Ann Shadd Cary’s newspaper,The Provincial Freeman.
Children can try illumination – colouring previously drawn and printed pictures – which was a popular practice in the 19th century.
Enjoy a cookie and some warm cider in the historic kitchen. Included with regular admission.
