Sensory-Friendly Saturdays

Event Details

This event finished on 21 April 2018

In April, the Ontario Science Centre is partnering with Geneva Centre for Autism and others to offer sensory-friendly events and programming. With a variety of communities in mind, Sensory-friendly Saturdays were developed to provide an environment that is inclusive, accessible, and respectful. Open to everyone, the programming is appropriate for all ages and abilities.

Special Programming includes:
Research Live! 10:00 am – 2:00 pm: Participate in live research studies. Your data can help contribute to the creation of innovative tools to assist those with an autism spectrum disorder.

Tech Showcase 10:00 am – 7:00 pm: Experience emerging accessible technologies presented by their developers and researchers. Check out the latest tech, including virtual reality tools, wearables, and digital assistive programs.

Planetarium Open House 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm: Starry-eyed for outer space? Interact with one of the OSC’s hosts in an open-format planetarium experience. Doors will be kept open to allow visitors to drop-in and ask questions.

Facilitated Programming 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm: Enjoy small group environments? Try out the facilitated programming in KidSpark with staff from Geneva Centre for Autism. There will be workshops for parents/caregivers to help them better understand individuals connected to neurodiversity. There will also be fun hands-on activities for parents/caregivers and their child(ren) to try and to take home.
