Dusk Dances

In 2019, Dusk Dances celebrates its 25th anniversary and returns to Withrow Park this summer with another week of exciting and entertaining dance works from Canada’s finest dance makers!

Dusk Dances is an outdoor dance festival that brings high quality contemporary and traditional dance to public parks. As dusk descends, a theatrical host leads the audience – which invariably includes children, dog walkers, and local residents – to eclectic dance pieces that unfold in different areas of the park.

Choreographers from various backgrounds are invited to perform a ten-minute piece inspired by the park’s natural environment. Audiences are invited on a pay-what-you-can basis to an innovative site-specific festival, which is not only an artistic event but a social and cultural one as well.

Admission is pay-what-you-can ($15/person suggested).

The Joy of Dance studio will hold a free 30-minute dance class before each show. All shows are 7–9:30 pm with one afternoon show on August 11, 2–4:30 pm.
