Power Kids Workshops

Event Details

This event finished on 26 August 2018

These free arts workshops for children ages 7-12 begin with a tour of the gallery and conclude with an art activity, inspired by the ideas behind the current exhibition. Tours and workshops are led by Amanda Foulds, Power Kids Family Programs Coordinator and assisted by Erica Cristobal, Power Kids Teaching Assistant.

July 15: Colouring on the Walls – Inspired by Akhavan’s playful use of light and space and his interest in bringing elements of the outdoors inside, participants will create “wall-paintings” using paper, colour gels, and projectors.

July 22: Sea Snail Studies – Participants will look at images of underwater creatures, abstract them, and then transform them into mixed-media paintings using canvas, paint, and plasticine.

August 5: Family Features – Families are invited to choose three words or phrases that best describe their family and then illustrate them using paper, paint, and markers to create triptychs.

August 19: On Wishes and Fountains – Participants in this workshop will learn how to create their own mini wishing fountains using clay and paint.

August 26: DIY Zoetropes – Explore the history of film by creating zoetropes using wood, cardboard, and paper.

Register by calling 416-973-4949 or email powerkids@thepowerplant.org. Caregivers are expected to join their children in all activities.
