kickstART Youth Event

kickstART is an action-packed evening of art, prizes, and fun!

The main event is a Live Paint Battle – a live painting competition for youth as part of National Youth Week celebrations. This free, live painting event invites individual artists and/or collaborative artist teams (maximum 2 people) ages 11-18 to compete in a timed “paint off.” Winners of each round go on to compete in the final “paint off.” Winners are selected by the audience and, in the case of a tie, decided by an external juror. Everyone is invited to attend and cheer for their favourite artist and teams! Register now to participate in the Live Paint Battle. 

kickstART will also include a free, drop-in art activity led by artist Nadya Edwards (6:00 – 9:00 pm) for children and youth of all ages, button making, snacks, and music.

The same evening, The Latcham Gallery opens its annual Celebrations exhibition, featuring artwork by kindergarten to Grade 8 students from Whitchurch-Stouffville’s elementary schools. The exhibition will be complemented by IMAGES 2.0, a display of artwork by Grade 9-11 students from Stouffville District Secondary School. The exhibition will be open to the public beginning Thursday, May 3, at 6:00 pm.
