Come out to learn about the services Public Works staff provide and how we’re improving connections in our environment. Your whole family will also enjoy activities, including:

  • Music and Entertainment

  • BBQ – Food prepared by Enbridge

  • Mascots – Meet and Greet

  • Kids Zone – Face painting, balloon twisting, photo booth, waste diversion basketball, coloring tables, life size version of snakes and ladders.

  • Kids Bike Rodeo – bring your helmet and bike!

  • Bike Repair Shop – bring in your bicycle for advice on repairs and a tune up.

  • Rain Barrel Sales – please visit https://rainbarrel.ca/vaughan/ to place your order. Rain barrels are pick up only on the day of the event. Please bring a copy of your receipt and ID to pick up your pre-paid online order.

  • Free mulch giveaway – *3 Bag Limit*.

  • Public Works vehicle displays and live demonstrations – learn about City vehicles, water quality, sanitary sewers, solid waste management, roads maintenance and much more!

  • The Water Cooler: “Quench Your Thirst” – City of Vaughan’s NEW potable water trailer – please bring refillable water bottles.

  • Free Exchange of Damaged City-Issued Blue Boxes, Kitchen Containers and Green Bins or Purchase NEW Blue Boxes, Kitchen Containers, Green Bins and Composters

  • Prizes/Raffles/Giveaways

  • Free secure document shredding service – *3 banker’s box limit; Only available during Public Works Open House Event, Saturday May 25*

  • Free Electronic Recycling; Sponsored by Ontario Electronic Stewardship – Drop off your unwanted and old electronic equipment. For a list of accepted items please visit the OES homepage.

  • Diabetes Canada Clothesline Drive – Donate gently used clothing, all cloth-based items, bedding, sleeping bags, belts and ties, yarn blankets, drapes, pillows, footwear.

  • Other participants include: Vaughan Fire and Emergency management (fire truck on site), York Regional Police (cruiser on site), By-Law Enforcement (vehicle on site), Miller Waste (recycling truck on site), Animal Services and more!
