Nature Play in the Children’s Garden

Event Details

This event finished on 31 December 2017

Every weekend, kids can get their hands dirty with a themed program in the Children’s Garden at Evergreen Brick Works. The always-evolving, seasonal programs are designed to activate the imaginations of children, inviting them to engage in open-ended play where they build, create, and problem-solve while developing an appreciation for the natural world.

Visitors have access to the clay table, sand and water play, greenhouse, urban agriculture activities, and family quiet zones. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

For December 2017, the schedule will be: opening circle at 10:30 am, making themed shelters (11 am–noon), learning about worker bees (1 pm–2pm), and making landscape-based crafts (2 pm–3 pm).

Themes are as follows:

December 2 and 3: Animals
Celebrate the amazing animals that embrace winter.

December 9 and 10: Plants
Learn about the many uses of local plants as food, medicine, and shelter.

December 16 and 17: Birds

December 23, 24 and 26–29: Celebration
Celebrate the return of light and the winter solstice and make loose-part shelters.

December 30 and 31: Trees
