The YMCA of Greater Toronto is celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the YMCA Peace Medal. Since 1987, more than 1,900 individuals and groups across Canada have been recognized with this award for their peacebuilding work. Peacemakers are recognized for promoting and inspiring Participation, Empathy, Advocacy, Community and Empowerment within their local, national or global community.
This year’s ceremony will be held on November 23 at the Mississauga Civic Centre from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Two Peace Medals will be awarded to Stronger Communities and Wali Shah.
