International Astronomy Day at the Ontario Science Centre

Event Details

A day of space-themed programs at the Ontario Science Centre, including a nighttime Star Party. Learn about space equipment, including rockets, rovers, and robots, from Canadian Space Agency (CSA) astronaut Dr. Dave Williams.

Highlights of the day-long astronomical celebration include:

  • an introduction to stargazing at the planetarium show
  • selfie ops with Mars rover prototype REX
  • solar observing safely through special telescopes
  • Junior Skywatchers activities for ages 3–5
  • Screening of Netflix’s new Lost In Space, episode 1, with special guest astronaut Dr. Dave Williams
  • A Beautiful Planet IMAX film
  • Free, family-friendly Star Party (7 pm), with night-sky observation, create-a-comet activity, a tour of the universe tour using an app developed by NASA, and appearances by experts in space science

 

Dr. Dave Williams will also be signing his book for middle-grade readers, Mighty Mission Machines: From Rovers to Rockets. 

General admission applies for most International Astronomy Day events; Solar Observing and the Star Party are free, though $10 parking fee applies.
