About Roy Thomson Hall

One of Canada’s most renowned concert halls, Roy Thomson Hall is home to the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir. It hosts concerts year-round by the TSO and by other symphony orchestras as well as solo performers and musical groups, comedians, and dance companies. Some past performers at Roy Thomson Hall: Sir Paul McCartney, Yo-Yo Ma, Anne Murray, Joan Baez,  Canadian Brass, Canadian Opera Company, Diana Krall, and Raffi!

The TSO film series—family-friendly films on a big screen and accompanied by a live symphony soundtrack—are especially popular with kids and families. (Harry Potter films and Home Alone are past selections.) It also screens gala films each year at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

Roy Thomson Hall has more than 2,500 seats in its auditorium and is known for its superior acoustics. First opened in 1982, the concert hall applied $20 million in sound and lighting enhancements in 2002.
