CHRISTMAS VICTORIAN TEAS

11.30 am

This year the Oshawa Museum will once again be hosting its annual Christmas teas. They are what are known as a low tea – a light lunch and scones typically held in the lady’s parlour. Seatings will be held at 11:30 am and 1:30 pm on December 14th and 15th. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 905-436-7624 x.106. Tickets are $15 per person, $7.50 for children and $10 for members of the Oshawa Historical Society.

Along with tea, guests are invited to participate in a guided tour of the museum, which will be decorated for a traditional Victorian Christmas and listen to carols sung by Rosalee Peppard. Rosalee is Canada’s premier musical oral historian of women’s history. For 16 years she has interviewed elder women, researched their stories, written them in song and toured her work internationally. She has received 2 Dr. Helen Creighton Folklore Research Awards and a Colchester Heritage Award for her work. She has published 3 CDs of her Canadian women’s “song portraits”, and has won European acclaim from her performance of “Living Titanic” at the International Titanic Convention in Belfast, NI.
