2019 marks the 47th annual Festival of India in Toronto. Festivities begin on Saturday with a vibrant parade down Yonge Street. The parade will feature three ornate, 40-foot tall floats, hand-pulled by participants amidst ecstatic singing, drumming, and dancing creating a wondrous, carnival-like atmosphere. Parade participants and spectators are encouraged to join in the excitement, singing, chanting, and even joining the parade on its route down to the lakefront.

Celebrations then continue throughout the weekend at Centre Island with a South Asian bazaar, traditional face-painting, outdoor yoga festival, and a children’s area, including yoga for kids. The festival is open to and free for all.
