Henri Matisse Paper Art Workshop

This drop off workshop is suitable for kids ages 5 – 10

Henri Matisse was well known for his paper cutout art. This fun workshop will cover some general history about the artist, his style and include paper art creation. The workshop will encourage children’s own interpretation of Matisse’s style. Participants will examine a few of his artworks to understand the significance of his work and then tackle a version of one of his prints or paintings. Kids will be asked to practice Matisse’s techniques before starting on their own 9” x 12” canvas or paper with tempera based paints and/or paper cut outs. All materials will be provided at this workshop.

With that in mind, it may get messy so be sure to dress children in clothes that can be stained permanently. They will have aprons and some shirts to help protect little artists but do remember paint can get on clothes and shoes.

While your little artists are painting, Jennifer Chen from Optimal Health Naturopathic & Wellness Clinic will be on site with a special nutritional workshop for parents ($40). She will also be providing a healthy, nut-free snack for both sessions!
