Penguin Awareness Day

African Penguins are just one of the endangered species you can find at the Toronto Zoo. This event promotes the Zoo’s mission to be a living centre for education and science, committed to providing a compelling guest experience and to inspiring a passion to protect wildlife and habitats.

Penguin Awareness Day activities will take place at the African Penguin exhibit, and will include special meet & greets, family activities, and draws for unique penguin prizes. A special Keeper Talk will take place at 12:30 pm, with a penguin encounter at 1:00 pm. All activities free with Zoo admission.

The Toronto Zoo participates in the Species Survival Plan (SSP) for African penguins, and 100% of the proceeds from a special silent auction and penguin merchandise sales at the penguin exhibit will be donated to the South African non-profit “SANCCOB” and their amazing efforts in seabird rehabilitation and reintroduction.
