A Great Experience Gift for Kids: Ross Petty’s Lil’ Red Robin Hood

HolidaysFamily Fun

Giving and getting toys and games for the holidays is fun, there’s no denying it. But sometimes, all the stuff can feel a little overwhelming. If your house already feels filled with things, and you’d like another option to give your kids this holiday, why not try an experience gift?

In our house, we’ve recently started a family tradition with our three young kids. Each year, we attend Ross Petty’s annual holiday pantomime production, and this year, it’s being taken up a notch. (Literally.)

Now in its 24th season, the show is moving up to the Winter Garden Theatre, which is on the 6th floor of the historic Elgin Theatre. (Interestingly enough, it’s the last operating ‘double-decker’ theatre in the world!) The Winter Garden has a uniquely magical forest setting that inspired the creation of the brand-new production Lil’ Red Robin Hood.

Pop Tunes, Ad-Libs and Raucous Audience Participation

Pantomime means that the audience and performers interact, and let me just confirm for you that this is highly pleasing to little kids. I’ve never seen my five-year-old boo so loud or my nine-year-old laugh so hard.

This year’s show features the classic characters of Little Red Riding Hood and Robin Hood—Lil’ Red, Maid Marion, Robin Hood, Friar Tuck and Sheriff of Naughtyham—but with a twist on the story, and a lot of fun involved.

The show is on stage from November 29, 2019 – January 4, 2020, giving you lots of time to plan a day out together. Do some shopping, grab a bite before or after taking in the show and get some quality family time with your little ones that they’ll likely remember for years to come.

Tickets & Pricing

Lil’ Red Robin Hood tickets range from $27-$99 and you can get a Family 4-pack for $256. Performances are at 2 and 7 pm between November 29, 2019 – January 4, 2020, and the show lasts 2 hours and 15 minutes. For a complete performance schedule, and to purchase tickets, visit rosspetty.com.
