The McMichael’s permanent collection consists of more than 6,500 artworks by Tom Thomson, the Group of Seven, their contemporaries, and First Nations, Métis, Inuit and contemporary artists who have contributed to the development of Canadian art.
Art and education programs at McMichael are specifically designed by leading art educators to engage children, youth, and teens. They explore a variety of themes and employ various art mediums, encouraging skills development while cultivating art appreciation. Programs introduce children to the art of Canada through in-gallery and studio-based activities facilitated by professional instructors.
Summer camps, March Break camps, Saturday classes, drop-in workshops, and family art workshops are offered at the McMichael.
All children’s programs foster a sense of belonging in a naturally relaxed and friendly atmosphere and all programs are accessible.
