About Canadian Association for Girls in Science (CAGIS)

The Canadian Association for Girls In Science (CAGIS) is an award-winning club for girls and gender minority youth ages 7 to 16 that supports interest in science, technology, trades, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

Local Clubs (Chapters)

CAGIS chapter members meet monthly to explore STEM with fun, hands-on activities led by experts in a variety of STEM fields. These monthly events often occur at the work places of our STEM experts, giving kids and teens a behind-the-scenes view and allowing them to experience the lab and field environment for themselves.

At past events, members have been microbiologists, using microscopes to examine swamp water; engineers, designing, building, and testing bridges at a wind tunnel; ecologists, sampling plant communities in forests and fields; computer scientists, coding robots to move.

CAGIS Virtual

CAGIS Virtual (new in 2020) brings STEM into your home with weekly, hands-on, live sessions led by real experts! CAGIS Virtual events explore a new topic each week with fun virtual and hands-on activities led by real experts. Each one-hour session includes an introduction to the topic, a hands-on or virtual activity, and time for questions at the end. Make slime with a chemist, learn the science of chocolate with a food engineer, learn about what your stomach gurgles mean with a gastroenterologist, and more!

Book a Session

Book one of the most popular CAGIS Virtual sessions for your school, group, or birthday party online. Each session is 1 hour in length and run by an expert in science, technology, trades, engineering, or math (STEM), along with a certified teacher.

These fun sessions begin with an interactive presentation, followed by a virtual or hands-on activity, and finish with a summary and time for questions. Presenters have experience with students of all ages. Most sessions can be adapted to any elementary or high-school age group.
