JavaScript Trial Class Online

Event Details

This event finished on 13 August 2020

Ideal for students ages 8–12 years old who want to try text-based programming.

Aimed at those with little to no coding knowledge, this one-off trial session covers the fundamental elements of programming in a fun and accessible way in an hour-long lesson. It’s ideal for young coders who want to try out learning to code with a text-based language online but aren’t sure if it’ll be for them.

JavaScript is the most commonly used programming language in the world. It’s the hidden language that makes the web more interesting, your favourite sites engaging, and online games playable and smooth. Behind the scenes, it is JavaScript which makes the digital world so fun!

This trial session uses a platform called Bitsbox. Students will learn some of the key coding concepts used in Bitsbox such as variables and loops.

Each online class has a 1:6 teacher-to-student ratio. Once set up within the virtual learning environment, every member of the class can share their screen and other materials with the teacher, creating a collaborative atmosphere and ensuring every student can receive immediate feedback on their work. Plus, students regularly make friends with children from all over the world!

Please note: Trial sessions are exclusively for children who are new to coding or new to online coding classes. Please do not sign your child up for a trial session if they have attended an online blue{shift} course.
