Our Kids Get Down and Funky with Electronics

Hype

Somedays it’s difficult to get our wee, creative, energetic kidlets to put down the electronics. Whether it’s an iPad, iPhone or some other gadget, they get attached and just don’t want to let go.

But maybe that’s not such a horrible thing (wait…hear us out!).

Our kids’ futures are going to be full of electronic devices, and they do need to learn how to use them. We’re not saying they should have one attached to them at all times, but doing physical activities and incorporating the use of an iPad into it wouldn’t be such a bad idea.

And that’s where In The Mix has hit upon an ingenious idea; they have designed their after-school and lunchtime programs to engage and motivate kids through the newest and coolest dance moves, music and computer technologies. With the integration of special iPad instruction, they add an extra package of valuable new skills to our child’s repertoire, all while engaging them in physical activity.

In an In the Mix class, our kids get to explore cool new apps to help create their own dance and performance pieces. With features such as the Video Camera, Sound Recording, Moviemaker, DJ Mixers, Photoshop and Editing programs, they get to create individualized pieces. Most exciting of all, they learn to “upload/download” their pieces onto the In the Mix interactive website where kids can showcase their talents to family and friends.

In the Mix
fosters kids’ artistic abilities in a physical and highly creative, non-judgemental environment, helping them learn to become healthier, happier and more self-confident. They teach kids to take initiative for their own learning process including: goal setting, problem solving and the development of skills and interests. They also promote the concept of cooperation by having kids work within a partnership or team to achieve their goals.

In short, In the Mix lets our kids physical, creative and mental activities all at the same time (and they get to share it with us in a way no other class allows!).
