Toronto’s 2018 Royal Winter Fair Opens This Week

Family Fun

The 96th annual Royal Agricultural Winter Fair is hitting Toronto once again—this year from November 2 until November 11—and it has tons of fun for families in store.

Whether you’re into world-class competition, learning about locally-sourced food or getting up-close to show animals, The Royal has something for all ages to enjoy, including a rodeo with bull, saddle bronco, and bareback riders from across the country.

If this ain’t your first rodeo and you’d like to see what else is in store, here are some other great family favourites to check out.

Farm To Table Discovery Zone

Meet beekeepers, find out how greenhouses work and take a virtual reality tour of a dairy farm at the new Farm To Table Discovery Zone. Offering interactive, fun and educational experiences for the whole family, you can see, touch and taste your way through all the steps in growing and supplying local foods.

Birds of Prey Demonstrations

Hawks and owls play a very important role in modern agriculture, and for the first time ever, The Royal will host a series of daily birds of prey demonstrations to illustrate the relationship between farmers and their feathery friends.

The Classic Events

Spend the day perusing the massive butter sculptures, take in a viewing of the President’s Choice SuperDogs show, browse and shop at all the great vendors and check out the petting zoo, too.

Wine, Dine & Unwind

Adults can check out the Craft Beer and Cider Awards, among other food events, to sip, sample and savour great local food and beverages.

The Royal Horse Shows

And, of course, everyone can check out the horse shows! International show jumping athletes make their way to Toronto from all corners of the world to compete in the show. Along with Hunters and Jumpers, you will be amazed at the many different breeds of horses that pull carts, coaches, wagons and big hitches.

It all starts on November 2 and runs until November 11. Find out more and get your tickets here.
