Drop-In Family Fun at the AGO

Jean-Michel Basquiat is the inspiration for March Break at the AGO! Drop-in for beat-box and dance performances and a double-Dutch jump-rope show, create your own graffiti tags, see kid-friendly films, participate in little-tot crafting times and storytelling, and more.

March Break at the ROM: “Futurology”

Visit during the day for technology- and adventure-related drop-in fun like hands-on engineering activities, Google virtual reality exploration, the opportunity to touch a space rock, and games in the ROM arcade. Contests all week for ROM Sleepovers and more. Extended discounted evening hours (after 4:30 pm) are in effect during March Break.

Bata Shoe Museum Fun and Games

Play carnival games, do the obstacle course, and play hopscotch, Twister, Minecraft and more fun games all week long.

March Break at Ontario Science Centre

Hands-on activities for kids of all ages. Tour the exhibit “Brain: The Inside Story,” go on a safari with live reptiles, and see IMAX films, “cool science” demonstrations, and planetarium shows. Open 10 am to 6 pm.

Drop-in crafts, games, and hands-on activities are scheduled for March Break week at Spadina Museum Historic House and Gardens.

Mini MOCCA Art Workshop

Make your own sketchbook at this workshop, one in a new ongoing series for kids ages.

March Break at Hockey Hall of Fame

Families get discounted admission March 13–22 at the Hockey Hall of Fame and hours are extended for March Break week. You must print the coupon to get the deal.

King’s Court at Casa Loma

Play knight, prince, or princess at Toronto’s only castle, with activities including interactive medieval theatre, a Hero’s quest challenge, and themed games, puzzles, crafts and more. Cinderella makes a guest appearance!

March Break Mystery Fun

Black Creek Pioneer Village opens to families for a Sherlock Holmes mystery adventure. Kids find clues and make disguises to track the thieves and solve a crime. Activities in every building on site; and horse-drawn carriage rides are in effect.

Toronto ComiCon

Nerds welcome! This is the event of the season for fans of science fiction, gaming, comics, anime, fantasy, and horror. Meet and hear from comic-book designers, actors from popular TV shows, and sci-fi authors. Learn how to make a Dalek and see Storm Troopers in action.

Wizard World Fun Park

Wizard World is an indoor fun fair extravaganza for kids, with stage shows, carnival rides—including a mini-coaster and bumper cars—inflatable jousting and inflatable Kidz Gym, pony rides, petting zoo, and a little tots area for kids under five.

March Madness at Fantasy Fair

During March Break week at Fantasy Fair play centre, special events take place each afternoon: clown shows, circus acts, magicians, a live reptile show and more. (Check schedule for details.) All day, kids can play on the huge climbing gym with tube slides, ride the carousel, bumper cars, Ferris wheel and other attractions for tots.

Farms, Zoos, Nature Centres, and Parks

March Break at the Zoo

During March Break, help Toronto Zoo staff build animal enrichment items (daily 10 am–2 pm) for the giant pandas, clouded leopards, polar bears, saki monkeys, and more. See the full schedule online. Take shelter on cold days exploring the zoo’s indoor tropical pavilions.

March Break at Evergreen Brick Works

March Break drop-in activities take place all week at Evergreen Brick Works: make a paper mâché boat, explore nature, go ice-skating, do the scavenger hunt, make clay art, and paint on canvas.

March Break Nature Hikes at Rouge Park

Guided nature walks take place every weekend at Rouge Park, but during March Break week they are scheduled all week, too. Explore the trails and look for signs of spring. Walks have minimum ages (ranging from 4 to 12), so check the schedule.

Family Drop-In at Colborne Lodge

Stop by High Park’s Colborne Lodge for crafts and activities for ages 3 and up. If the weather cooperates, combine it with a zoo to the Jamie Bell Adventure Playground and the High Park Zoo.

Skiing and Snowboarding

Plenty of ski areas have extended hours during March Break and special deals, like the two-for-one package at Scenic Caves in Collingwood. See our favourite cross-country ski areas and check out downhill ski areas in the GTA.

Ice Skating

Free March Break programs are scheduled for branches throughout the GTA. Some examples of what’s on: movies, puppet shows, craft workshops, and drumming circles. Check local branches for programs and times.

March Break at Ontario’s Legislative Building

Free activities for kids ages 6–10. Dress in parliamentary staff robes, do a scavenger hunt through the historic building, and participate in crafts.

March Break at Fort York

Looking for a day of adventure during March Break? Just bring your family down to Fort York National Historic Site! At the authentic War of 1812 fort, children will have fun trying soldiers’ drill classes, officers’ sword drill, and dressing up in costumes. Sample treats from the 1826 historic kitchen pick up a Kids’ Guide to Fort York and have fun finding clues to complete games and puzzles throughout your tour.

This interactive exhibit for kids is in its fourth year at the TIFF Bell Lightbox. Kids can explore two-dozen hands-on installations, including the Build-a-Bot lab, a green-screen activity, a pop-and-lock dance machine, a soundlab for creating your own musical instruments, and the Kids APPcade, with more than 30 carefully selected creative and educational apps for kids.

Two shows take place in the GTA during March Break: Frozen in Toronto and Passports to Adventure, in Hamilton.
