June brings lots of excitement, since the kids can’t sit still from anticipation for the summer break. Luckily, there are plenty of fun events this month to keep them occupied until the school year is officially over.

While attending all these great events, don’t forget to register your kids in a summer camp. After returning home from a day of running around in the sun, help them cool off with a tasty drink.

Without further ado, here are our top picks for the best kid-friendly events for the whole family this June!

On this month in Toronto for kids:

100In1Day Toronto

FREE The second annual 100In1Day is a festival of civic engagement to unite hundreds of people to improve Toronto one small act at a time. Individually, a single act may not seem like much, but performing hundreds of acts as a group will make a BIG impact; just imagine the possibilities! June 6

Burlington Kite Festival

FREE Let fun take flight at the annual Burlington Kite Festival! Join in for a day of soaring discovery, with such activities such as face painting, kite building, clown performances, and many more. June 7

Scotiabank Bed Race, Picnic and Family Fun Day

FREE Join Scotiabank in supporting Mental Health at Trilluim Health Partners by participating in the Scotiabank Bed Race, Picnic, and Family Fun day. Kids can compete in bed-making and colouring contests in the Kids Zone, and after jumping on inflatable bouncers and participating in many other attractions they are sure to go to sleep happy. June 7

Honda Indy Toronto

If your child is a fan of fast cars and a racer in the making, take them to the Honda Indy Toronto to get their motors revving! There will be driver autograph sessions, interactive exhibits, and of course super fast racing. June 12–14

Liberty Village Art Crawl

FREE One of the Top 10 outdoor art fairs in Toronto for the second year running according to BlogTO, the Liberty Village Art Crawl gathers 50+ talented artists to showcase and sell their pieces. There is a Man Cave section to the event, so be sure to pick up something for Dad for Father’s Day! June 13

Toronto Reptile Expo

If you love all things scaly, slithery, and cold-blooded, you’re in luck because the Toronto Reptile Expo is on its way! Canada’s longest running reptile show will have various exotic pets for sale, including snakes, arachnids, and amphibians, and all you’ll need to take care of them. The event is family-oriented and provides free parking. June 14

Redpath Waterfront Festival

FREE The long-awaited end of construction along Queens Quay Boulevard has finally come, and it’s time to celebrate with the Redpath Waterfront Festival. The festivities take place all weekend, and include a ribbon cutting ceremony, buskers, live music, and much more! Even the dog can join in the fun at the PawsWay Pet Parade. June 19–21

Waterfront Artisan Market

FREE As part of the Redpath Waterfront Festival, the Waterfront Artisan Market showcases local designers, chefs, bakers and makers to inspire our city and highlight its culture. It will be located along Queens Quay Boulevard with the rest of the festivities. June 19–21

CHIN Picnic

FREE This year the Scotiabank CHIN Picnic takes place in Little Italy on College Street, being the first date and location change for the event in 32 years. The event used to be on the Exhibition grounds on Canada Day Long Weekend, but the change is in tribute to the centennial of the late founder Johnny Lombardi, born 1915, who started the event in 1966 to celebrate CHIN Radio and world music in Toronto. June 19–21

Luminato Festival

FREE The Luminato Festival is a boisterous event sprawling all over the city with music, theatre, dance, visual arts, literature, film, and much more. Many of the events and activities are family-friendly, including daily concerts, literary talks, and food events inspired by different Pan American countries in honour of the Pan Am Games. June 19–28

Father’s Day at Casa Loma

Celebrate Father’s Day with your family in the lush gardens of Casa Loma. Enjoy a casual BBQ, family activities and live entertainment. Tickets include admission to Casa Loma with a multimedia audio guide. June 21

David Suzuki: Letters to My Grandchildren

Come and listen to David Suzuki speak about his latest book Letters to My Grandchildren, where he disusses his experiences and wisdom he thinks is important to pass on to future generations. June 23

Oakville Family Ribfest

FREE Kick off summer with great bands, tasty ribs, and much more at the Oakville Family Ribfest. This year the event will host nine famous ribbers and dozens of great bands and performers. There’s also a PlayZone for children, artisans, a community marketplace, many other food vendors, plus beer and wine for the adults. June 26–28

Toronto Ribfest

Have a delicious, rockin’ start to your summer with the Toronto Ribfest. With a free KidZone, two stages with non-stop entertainment, Toronto’s largest mobile midway, and many other attractions this festival will not leave you hungering for more! June 27–July 1
