Spiders Alive!

Event Details

This event finished on 14 April 2019

At the Royal Botanical Gardens this winter, explore the amazing adaptations and behaviours of spiders and other many-legged creatures in two interactive exhibits and at daily programs for all ages.

In Spiders Alive!, visitors can explore spider anatomy and evolutionary history, learn about their signature traits — venom and silk-making — and be surprised by little-known defence mechanisms such as mimicry and noise-making. The exhibition includes live arachnids representing approximately 17 species as well as larger-than-life models of spiders, a climbable spider model 50 times life size, and a rare 100-million-year-old fossil of a spider in limestone.

The exhibit is included in general admission.
