Victoria Day is fast approaching, and since most businesses are closed for the day, what is there to entertain the kids? Here is a list of Victoria Day events that should be fun for the whole family plus some child-friendly places that will be open on Victoria Day!

This Monday, May 18 marks a day known throughout Canada for fireworks, remembering our British roots, and celebrating that it is finally starting to feel like summer: Victoria Day!

Since Victoria Day is an important holiday to Canadians, many people get the day off. But with most businesses closed for the day, what is there to entertain the kids?

Thankfully, although perhaps not for certain employees, not everything is closed. Plus, there are many events happening for this weekend only!

Here is a list of Victoria Day events that should be fun for the whole family plus some child-friendly places that will be open on Victoria Day!

Victoria Day Events

Victoria Day at Ashbridge’s Bay Park

Come see Toronto’s only Victoria Day fireworks show! Pack your blanket or lawn chair and head to the 14-minute Ashbridge’s Bay Park Victoria Day fireworks display, which will be happening rain or shine.

Centreville Amusement Park

Centre Island, Toronto Islands
10:30 am to 8 pm

This weekend only, when you buy a ride pass you get a free ferry ride and a slice of pizza! Also, don’t miss out on the Teddy Bear Picnic from 11 am to 4 pm. Bring your favourite stuffed animal for a checkup and get your face painted.

Be sure to check the ferry schedule to Centre Island.

Toronto International Circus Festival

Experience the oddities and wonders of the Toronto International Circus Festival! Including Zero Gravity, Sideshow Alley, Wow Hoop Vau Vanne Baby Circus, and Corpus Dance Projects.

High Park Zoo

South end of High Park
7 am to dusk

Come to the High Park Zoo on Victoria Day to pet the llamas between 11:30 am and 2 pm.

Victoria Day Weekend with the Woofjocks

Purina PawsWay, 245 Queens Quay W.
Shows at noon, 1:30 and 3:30 pm

The Woofjocks’ team of professional dog trainers and their very talented dogs will be performing 30-minute shows choreographed to music throughout the day.

Endangered Species Weekend

Mountsberg Conservation Area, 2259 Milburough Line, Hamilton
10 am to 4 pm

Visit the park for an Endagered Species Weekend and learn more about what you can do to help protect them from human impacts.
